2019
First Year as Husband & Wife
OVERVIEW
Between the engagement and wedding, 2018 set the bar high, but 2019 did not disappoint. Between traveling, attending weddings, purchasing a home, career changes and milestones, graduate school, and community involvement, it was an exciting year.

Erika
In October, Erika started at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in a position that combines her two passions - human centered design and aging! She works as part of the Center for Innovative Care in Aging to integrate design thinking in research and existing programs (CAPABLE) that seek to improve quality of life for older adults living in community. She is also producing a monthly podcast called Aging Fast & Slow.

In April, Erika became the ambassador of Baltimore's Aging2.0 chapter, a networking group for innovators in the aging space to meet. She planned 5 events on topics such as voice enabled technology, desprescribing, and self-advocacy. She also joined the board of the Jewish Museum of Maryland, and is honored to serve on the committee that is planning an expansion to the museum. Erika has also stayed very involved with the B'nai Israel community by helping to develop and promote programming.

Jon
Jon continued weaving his passions for social impact and the Jewish community at Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. He leads a field-building initiative focused on alleviating poverty within the Jewish community, in partnership with fantastic colleagues, and has authored a report and blog posts, and planned a conference on this issue. He also worked on the development of Weinberg's Israel grantmaking strategy, traveling to Israel 5x over the past two years. In December, Jon was promoted to the position of Program Officer.

In June, Jon joined the board of B'nai Israel synagogue, where he and Erika got engaged, and he continues to stay very active there by reading torah, leading services, and helping with programming. He is pursuing a Master's in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins, and is almost halfway finished with the coursework.
